Hello all,,,well being as I am challenged by technology, I cannot seem to get a trip report not to time out. So,,I will sum it up. Great trip. La Vista Beach Resort was awesome...just maybe the ages were a little old for us, but beautiful,,,we travelled around and found our own fun. Found Marty,,for some great meals and best rum punch on island.
Car was good,,,just a wee mix up when taking it back. Island always gets better,,,just love it there. On this site there is a man from Minnesoda,,,can't quite remember his name,,,he was fun singing....Alice, Alice, who the F is Alice at toppers one night.

Can't wait till next year, thanks for all your help.

Thanks for the report. It is best to do a WORD or other type document and cut and paste it in a post.

Sorry you had that problem, but as JD said, unfortunately the best way to do a report is to compile it offline and copy and paste here. Glad you enjoyed LaVista Beach.

I get it Carol,,,if my daughter was home, she could have helped with that. lol.....Like I said, La Vista beach is really really nice, and the view is totally awesome. We had one single guy with us,,,40-50 yr range so,,really not much at all at resort. The entire age group was well over 60. Only other negative thing, if I could think of one was there could have been better equipment in Kitchen, i.e. non stick frying pan,,ice maker, etc. Just not as well equipped as other places,,,but that is a minor thing!! We drove everywhere most of the times.

We ate at the Blue Bitch Bar down in phillipsburg and honestly,,,it was awesome. Our best meal, believe it or not, nothing fancy was Marty's place, that opens up at night, right beside toppers on welfare road. I had a gyro to die for,,and it was only 7.00. My hubby had the grouper with a lovely cheese sauce and I think it was 11 or 13 dollars. And, as I have mentioned before, Marty does make the absolute best "rum punch" on the island, that I have found so far.
We had lobster at Skipjacks,,,,really good,,but drinks there taste bad. No where do they sell good Canadian rye. They say they have Crown Royale,,,but it sure doesn't taste like it.

We also had a meal at Pineapple petes,,,it was very good as well.

The trip was awesome, any which way I shake it. I learn a little more each trip. Sunset Cruise with Horace was really fun and they even had champagne for my birthday!! Nice.

Wish I was back there right now!!

Meg, I enjoyed hearing the few paragraphs you wrote about your trip, but please don't stop there. That would be letting you get off the hook too easy!

Write your report in WORD as JD suggested, and just copy and paste it into your TTOL post. That will give you lots of time and we will all be so happy to read about your adventures. All Canadians are ready for a challenge, so I know you won't let us down!

LaVista Beach really is a lovely place to stay, for sure, with lovely views. I didn't remember that they didn't have icemakers there. We don't have icemaker at Beachside Villas, which is where we normally stay these days, so we just start out the first day filling up those 4 ice cube trays and dumping them out!

There are no icemakers in the rooms, but there is an icemaker behind the restaurant, as well as one in the laundry area at La Vista Beach. I didn't even use either this last trip, and year before last the one at the Beach was broken. Not sure if it's been fixed or not.

And what's wrong with being over 60?

LOL,,,,Nothing is wrong with being over 60,,,I just turned, but I was the oldest in the group. Just saying, not much action for the younger single guy at the resort. People went to bed way too early, that kind of thing. But we managed,,,no problems, and met some very nice people during the day!! Would not stop me from staying again, cause the views were beautiful,,,,it will depend on the next bunch of newbies we bring to enjoy this beautiful island.!!

We spend very little time at the resort anyway. In our ten plus years of staying there, we've met two or three couples, and those just in passing.

We stayed at La Vista Beach Resort during our June 2013 trip and will be staying in the same unit again this coming June. We really like it there, the views are indeed beautiful. It is a quieter resort, but that's actually one of the things we like about it. It's well run by a good team. We don't really like the louder, crowded, more 'resort' type places. I do agree that the kitchen could use a few more 'things' in it, but overall it is one of our favorite places to stay on island.

Thanks for posting -- would love to hear more about your trip if you figure out the 'cut and paste' thing.

I know that Alice song, it makes a good chorus when everyone sings along. And of course a couple of cocktails will make it a really loud song with everyone singing along.
