Have a week that we traded into Hyatt Windward. Interested in opinion of anyone who has stayed there on the resort, what is within walking distance, how painful to get to Duval/downtown key west. June 21 to June 28

If you are talking about the Hyatt Windward Pointe, it is a very long way from the downtown/old town area. It is out by the airport, the far side of the airport. Renting bikes won't cut it, a rental car with rental and parking won't do it either. Taxis will be your only means of transport. Don't look at a map and think that it is walkable. Sorry to paint a bleak picture but it is what it is. So, spring for taxis and enjoy. Sometimes those outlying hotels have a shuttle service to Old Town. At least check into that option. Other than geography I can tell you nothing about the hotel or what is in the area. The only time I am in that neighborhood is to go to or from the airport.

Have stayed at Windward Pointe and you do need a car to get 'downtown'. Finding parking isn't that bad, just will need to pay a bit for a lot or find something a few blocks away. Never have spent more than 10 minutes hunting for a spot and then it's a 10 minute walk. Will be less than a taxi all the time.

We stayed at Windward Pointe last November. As PaulJay said, a car is needed to get "downtown". Not much within walking distance, one restaurant next door, beach is about half a mile down the street, motel next door is a stop for the Old Town Trolley. Parking in "downtown" is $2/hr at a metered spot.
