This is my first post. Very excited about our 5th bareboat trip to the BVI (haven't been in 6 years). We are using TMM again. For the first time, we are flying into STT instead of EIS. So, we are going to take the ferry. I had assumed that we should book the ferry ahead of time, but after everything I've read on this site, I'm rethinking that due to delays and cancellations. So, is it ok to show up at STT without a ferry reservation? Will we be able to just take the first available? Thanks.

Yes, you are fine to just show up and get on the first ferry that will take you to either Road Town or the West End of Tortola -- definitely do not make reservations in advance. You never know which ferry or ferry company for that matter that you're going to end up with....

That is the same company - what day of the week are you arriving and what day are you departing?

If you've purchased a round trip ticket with them and they won't refund you, you will just have to use whatever ferries they have scheduled on those days.

The ferries can be a very unreliable process for many....we've always been fortunate.

You'll be fine... you seemed to have picked the most reliable of the ferry outfits

as long as the departures times (coming & going) work for u - I have yet to be disappointed by them

so.. crack a cold one... feet up & relax.. you'll be good

I was just talking to STT Fast Ferry office and they confirmed that if we don't make our flight, or there's a delay that makes us miss our reservation, they will transfer the reservation and fees paid to the next day. On the website it says tickets are non-transferrable but two different people have confirmed on the phone that they will transfer. Anyone ever have to try that?

I have a friend who booked the wrong date and they let him use it on an earlier date with no issues.

Buy a ticket and travel any day, any time....that seems to me how its always been..but NEVER buy roundtrip as said..chances are you'll be on a different company's boat.
