It may take a couple starts and stops but here goes.....
Left Dulles International on time 5-14 at 7:15AM. Smooth into SJU and out after a refuel for the plane and a Corona for my Sweetie and me. As Bobcat promised we wer cleared to land at PJIA. First time arriving on a 757 I was wondering if we were getting taken all the way to Divi but we stopped before the end of the runway. As we waited the luggage belt broke down and our luggage arrived on the second belt with in a half hour after hitting the ground. Between the Contnental 757 and our American 757 me thinks it might have been an wait issue....to many people not wanting to wait! Out the door and Marius from St. Louis is on site with our selection for the week. Luck must have been on our sides as we got a White Toyota! Minutes later and we off to Divi. Check in was a breeze. Not only were we on site by 2:00pm our room was ready. So off to drop luggage dawn suits and stop at the Seabreeze bar for our first Carib of the week (of many) with our favorite bartender Leroy. After a couple more the sand gravity kicked in and our butts we locked in for the day. Dinner was the Saturday special Prime Rib night at Toucan's. Afterwards sitting at the bar to wind away the evening.
Sunday Morning we were up and in the gym to attemp to stay off the additional in take of Carib, BBC, Almond Groves, Vin, etc, etc, etc. We stopped afterwords to listen in on the orinatation just to make a reservation on the Random Wind. Went two years ago and got rainned out last year so we did not want to miss out this year. While we were there the Sun filters started to pour liquid Sun so off to visit Phillipsburg. Most everything was closed except the Greenhouse so we had to stop and have the Escargo to wash the Carib's down. But it soon cleared and we hit the beach since it was iffy we decided to hang at Divi for the day. Sand gravity was strong! And the drinks were close! Sunday evening we met the newlyweds and TTOL member LLY and John at Leroy's bar. The first of many an elbow bent with them. Then off to dinner at Chesterfields, always a favorite. More to come. in a bit......
Gee how can I get this done if they expect me to work too?
After Chesterfields we returned to Divi for a nightcap and some . (My liver is suing me for abuse after this trip)
Monday we grabbed our coffee and headed over to Guana Bay in the overcast and light rain . We pulled up to the gate at Mr. B's andwere waiting for the rain to stop when Mr. B himself arrived. Invited us to park inside the gate but told us he was closed on Mondays. If we had read the signs we would have known. We hung out for a few minutes and decided to head back to Divi since it was still overcast and see if we could wait it out. Arriving back the rain stopped and we felt the sand gravity grab us. We sat on the beach for a cloudy day until the rain returned. But we made the trip to Jewelmasters for a couple cigars for me and Sweetie to look around. The rain came harder and we were offered shots of Rum Jumbie along with a couple from NC and a young lady from NY. Standing outside under the overhang chatting they kept offering the Jumbie. I decided we needed a bottle to ward off the rain. It must have worked cause it stopped in time for a trip to Phillipsburg and dinner at Taloula Mango's for dinner and the Shrimp Scampi Pizza. Back to the room for an early night as were were scheduled for the Random Wind Wednesday.
The Jumbies from the day before ran the rain away and the Sun came out for a beautiful day! We had hooked up with LLY and her hubby again the night before dinner and discovered they were going on the Random Wind as well the next day. We all arrived and set out for a perfect day. Martin had docked the ship inside the bay just incase so were saw a different view of the bridge going up. Andre' was our Captain this time out and Michellie was working her first time as mate. The first stop was Creol Rock for some breath taking snorkling. Squid and fish everywhere.
Lunch was served anchored in Happy Bay and a few went for a swim to the beach and back.
We then sailed around the point and anchored near the reef and a few lucky ones saw the new resident Sea Turtle living there among the fish and coral. By this time we had to sail back to Simpson Bay and the day was done. We headed back to Divi for the Lobster Night. (And more liver abuse)
Cheers to our Captain and mate for the day for a grand time!
Wednesday we headed back to Guana Bay and the sand gravity. The weather was still picture perfect so the Jumbies were still smiling on us. Had lunch at Mr. B's the BEST fish sandwich (Fresh Red Snapper) I have ever had!! ?
Spent sometime urging Mr. B to become a TTOL sponsor and chatting with him. He promised he would check it out as he had spent a day with a couple from London that had heard about him on TTOL!
He is looking to have the Jazz Club open year round and is working with some partners on it. I for one would love it!
Finally we were off home and back out for our first pub crawl! LLY had told us about it and we were hooked on the idea. What a blast! A wonderful night and perfect trip except for one of our new friends slipped between the Celine and the Dock at Peg Leg's. freak accident. But she was pulled out quickly and luckily she was staying at Pelican and they ran her home to change. She was back in no time and Partick and the wonderful folks at Peg Leg gave her a "Luxury" T-Shirt to boot! After our dinner and dancing at Turtle Pier we went with our new friends to the "Red Piano Bar" at Pelican. What a night, I need some
Thursday hit the gym and then we headed to Mullet Bay Beach thanks to the directions received here and watched the waves lap the shore. A tour group from one of the ships came thru but stayed only about 30 minutes.
It was time for lunch so we had to visit Gus at Baie Rouge. Wonderful as always! The gravity was strong from the sand we could not resist, so up to the far left end to bake in the sun.
And bake we did, it was much more humid than expected so by 4:00 we stopped at Raymonds for a water and Carib then off to Marigot. She had to shop....
Most of the people had pulled out but she found some things she like at the few that were left. So down the road to Friars Bay. The Sand Gravity King had pulled us back.
We were watching a storm roll up when a parachutist came out of the clouds and CRASH landed on the far end of the beach. He was lucky and only got a small cut on his forehead as he came through the Palm tree. The storm rolled around us and we sat and watched the sunset from the beach.
For Dinner we headed back to Grand Case and BBQ at the Talk of the Town. Had to have a Johhny Cake to wipe my chin! Back to Divi and a few drinks with our buddy Leroy, (seems to be a pattern here ) before bed.
Friday.....NOOOO not the dreaded Friday!
We started with our only real sit down breakfast of the trip at Divi. She was looking for a quick trip to Phillipsburg before heading to our favorite Baie Rouge again. We learned this time and bought waters along with Carib at Gus's today. It was even hotter today! (I complain at home.....) We hung out till about 3:00 and back to Divi.
One more trip to see Leroy before heading home tomorrow.
And since we had skipped lunch we had a couple appitizers then we cleaned up for dinner and met up with LLY and hubby again for drinks with Leroy.
He closed up around 8:00 (good thing he did not have the late shift that week,we don't leave untill midnite and parting always brings tears. And she hates it when I cry! ) and we all said our goodbyes
We headed out to the Boathouse for the "last supper in paradise".
Saturday Morning we could not resist one last trip to the beach and snuck in 30 minutes before showering and packing for the afternoon flight. We checked in at the airport at 11:30 and headed over for our traditional last meal at Ric's Place.
We met the new owner (sorry I did not get your name) and I have to say the Steak and Cheese was wonderful as always! Keep up the great work!
Finally we watched PJIA and SXM faid into the distance...........
Sorry for the run on's and spelling errors..... Now LLY where is YOUR report!!
