Actually, the only "official" nude part of Orient Beach is in front of the resort at the South side. A few years ago, the Gendarmes were busting anyone who ventured out of that area nekkid.

We just returned last night from the BVI...We found Mooring Balls on Cooper (2pm) Bitter End (4pm) Marina Cay (4pm) Little Harbor (4pm) and Sopers Hole (5pm) We anchored at White Bay (1pm) but not overcrowded. It was a magical trip Lots of Wind, more rain than usual, but another trip of a lifetime!

That change started once the cruise ships started coming and their morals being offended. I started going to OB in the early 90's and it was socially acceptable the whole length of the beach. Ahh the joy of cruise ships.

Actually, no, local French families is what caused the changes along Orient. It had nothing to do with cruise ships. But they are an easy target.

Now a week later and Norman has all of 15 boats in it at noonish.

Interesting. I haven't been to OB since about 1979 but back then there was a single dirt track that lead to a sand parking area and a little beach bar at the SE end. From there all the way to the clift at the north end was nothing. No houses, no roads, no nothing. There were definitely no French families to object. It being so isolated was why it gained its reputation as the best nude beach in the Caribbean.

1979 and now are totally different at Orient. Behind Orient Beach now is totally full of housing, a mix of locals living fulltime and rental properties.

The conversations I mentioned previously had little to do with any kind of nudity, but centered more on attitudes and bad behavior. More so on Jost and Tortola than anywhere else.
