In JNB which hotel did you stay at (Hiliday inn garden court?) and how far from the airport? The airport intercontinental has rates at like US$ 400 and UP.

It was a Holiday Inn, yes. There are two Holiday Inns there, but this was the closest one. It was like a 2 minute taxi drive from the airport. For an overnight, it was just wonderful. Much cheaper than that rate, for sure. Check out our trip report for exact name, but it was VERY close to the airport.

yes its not a Holiday inn anymore, per the holiday inn web and phone sites.

Jo Berg airport still lists it as a Holliday Inn ( Its a block away) but Holliday inn does not.

Dunno, hotels change affiliations all the time. It was extremely convenient to the airport though and was totally refurbished right around when we were there, in 2005.
