Good news. The first building was in rough shape. Building a wood structure in the tropics is never a really good idea.If they can produce something like what appears in the sketch, should do very well. Also notice the "name change",looks like the business has been restructured too.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but isn't Lighthouse Inn on the hill above Quito's? Will this new building block the view from some of the rooms there, because of how tall it is??

Looking at the conceptual drawing on the site, I would think they may have acquired the land by the old building where Glen kept all his boats and various other things. Other possibility(or combination of both) is they will need to rip into the mountain/hill that the old building is built on. Only glaring error I can see in the picture is the pool. That absolutely needs to be a negative (disappearing) edge pool, at least second floor level overlooking the bay and the sunsets. Anywhere else would be a waste of effort.

I think that is the pool that is already there in back of the old hotel. It has always been underused because of its location.

I was looking at that Norma, and the only that would work (with the conceptual drawing) would be to build the hotel on the restaurant and across the road(which wouldn't really surprise me,I've seen crazier stuff done down there). The only flat land there is Glenns, unless they are planning to move a mountain. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

I have it on good authority that the new building is on land exclusively owned by Quito and in full compliance with BVI code. I am anxious to see this new addition to the CGB landscape.

It says it is on the same footprint. I cannot imagine that won't interfere with the lighthouse views?? When I first saw the plan I thought it might have been incorporating the lighthouse villas... we shall see. Be interesting to see how far they have gotten when we visit this January.

That was my first thought--something that tall surely would block at least some of the view from Lighthouse, I think?

His facebook page has progress reports and photos. Just posted yesterday about the end of the "ole Works", showing it being gutted from what I can tell. It may be coming down altogether..but I could not tell from yesterdays photos. Does appear the gazebo is progressing nicely tho.

Sure looks like they are making a lot of progress. Saw pictures of the old building coming down.

After reading some of the posts I was wondering what the view might be like at the Light House Villas. We are staying there in a few weeks and hope that Quitos new place doesn't alter it for us. Looking forward to seeing Quito again

Fair rate but we enjoy cane garden as we stayed there for a month a few years ago. Hope the construction noise is not too much.
