Breakfast at Chesterfields was great. Saw and chatted with Jeffery the owner for 38 years. WOW!!! 2 ships in but traffic is not too bad.
OrientBeach now at Pedro's. Took a couple of pics but not sure how to include them here. (Duh). Anyway the first couple of buildings next to Pedro's have roofs on them. The next two have starter roofs, and the rest are vertical walls.
More news later. (Too much pressure here - hee, hee, hee)

The orignal plans showed apart from the four "pods" a vendors market and washrooms along with parking. I get the parking will come at the end, but what about the vendors village and washrooms. They will need washrooms to open.

Note, you can see openings in the new wall, presumbably that will be for stairs

Look how close the water is to the new wall.No room for chairs between the water and the wall as depicted in the plan pictures.

It seems that the southermost buildings will be indeed much closer to the water than what's shown in the 1st link.

See picture 4 in the 2nd link.

Here is the translation to your second link, which was written on July 3, 2015: "On "Small beaches" excavators are just finishing their work to dismantle the old barracks. Construction of new works to rehabilitate the site in a new tourist pole should begin shortly. Last Friday, the vice president in charge of the Community Economic Development Pole, Wendel Cocks, had invited the press to unveil the draft of the project to € 3 million and he wanted to remember that this is a " flagship action of the current term of office, "scheduled in 2012 but decided after the devastation caused by the cyclone Gonzalo. The destruction of the site, provided by the workers of the company TMTT, wants to be "an ecological pilot operation" explained the entrepreneur Franck Viotty, explaining that everything that can be recycled (sheets, plants ...) was set aside. Faced with the influx of people from recovering materials for their own use, he assured also leaving do at the beginning: "It was difficult to know who was who in the occupation of the old buildings." But soon, the company has restored order and the site was closed to the public.
As for the occupants of the plot, which had been asked to leave the premises through a letter from the President "project was generally well received," even though "some did not believe it and waited for the last minute to go" .

New functional units

The main contractor "Alias &#8203;&#8203;Construction Management" has presented his project plans now called "The carbets of Orient Bay. "It will deliver functional units," says the firm. October 15, will thus sprung up eight restaurants, four shops, a small market with ten carbets, three spaces for water activities and a first aid station and public health. "There will be room for everyone to install its sign" specify the operators, who claim to have opted for neutral colors to harmonize the whole. A special lighting will operate the site at night. Note that those wishing to exploit the carbets of Orient Bay will necessarily apply AOT, including watersports. "All the people who were already installed will have priority" said Wendel Cocks, even if only a few operators were then rule. "Earlier this year we revised the prices of AOT throughout the country and these rates will apply for carbets of Orient Bay."

Ok, if the eight restaurants are going to be operating by October 15, they'd better get a wiggle on!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for translating. You speak French or you used Google translate? <wink>
Actually, I was referring to the legend of the 4th picture at the bottom. It says, "the buildings will be erected much further back from the beach." which doesn't appear to be the case when you add the terrasse.

Toes in the sand Oct 13 <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" />
Will take a look and provide updates.
Suspect my target week of Oct 19 is a lost cause.
Does anyone know if the parking behind Pedro's, against the wall, is still useable?
Eleven days till liftoff. Anxiety meter is starting to peg.

There is no way they'll be up and running by 10-15-15...

Not unless they work a whole lot faster than they did when I was there last week.
