Daily Herald story Anyone familiar with the machine they are talking about to remove seaweed?

There are many machines from tractor pulled, self-propelled riding, to pushed like a lawnmower. I'd assume its not good to be a turtle egg with the machines but the seaweed is also not good for the eggs/hatch lings either.

I assumed they were talking about a different type of machine, they said that it left the sand intact and just skims the seaweed.

Exactly....more than just raking it it skims the top few inches off and sifts the material on a mesh conveyor belt and puts the clean sand back. I still wouldn't want to be a turtle egg although most are probably not hurt by this intrusion.

These machines are called beach/surf rakes and are used by New Jersey beach towns every morning to groom the beaches. I was wondering when SXM would discover them.

Half the problem is collecting it and the other half is finding somewhere to put it. On Orient, Club O seems to have a plan but everyone else is ad hoc including burying it on the beach which creates quite the stinking mess.

Everyone would love to have such a machine if they could afford it.
