We are just starting to plan for our Ireland trip in June, 2016. Those who have gone, do you have anything that you wish you would have done OR not done. Favorite B & B, castles, sites?
We are starting in Dublin and ending in Shannon. Hopefully 15 days.
Thanks so much!!

Have fun. Remember it's Ireland and not all is as it might seem: intending to visit Waterfford Crystal. Major sign outside states it's open 364 days a year. We were there on 17 March. It was closed. So maybe open on Christmas Day? Welcome to Ireland!!! Great country and lovely people when you get to know them. Remember your raincoats. It is known to be green for a reason! Everywhere we stayed, on 3 separate trips, was great in its own way so can't make specific recommendations. Remember to try the black pudding at breakfast! Take raincoats and a sense of humour and you will have a great time.

So much to see and do - get hold of a good guide book, even pick up local guides when needed - Belleek factory and shop a must for the lady of the house - numerous castles - one time when we were soaked from the rains we could not wait until we got to King John's Castle just to get out of the rain, well when we got there, no roof on the castle, we had to make a run for a tent set up on a field for cover, fun....and while Ireland may not be the land of the "midnight sun" the sun does set late, after 10pm in late June/July something to see if you have never...the Blarney Stone....Waterford...Cliffs of Moher...Ring of Kerry ....the list goes on and on...US pre-clearance at the airport...

Don't over plan. Your adventures will find you, often just getting in your car and set off driving. Many Castles in Ireland are not castles as you expect, but Great Houses.

Don't move to a new B&B every night, too much hassle. Just move every few days.

Around Dublin you don't need a car, Dublin Bus is great. They have an awesome app, so you don't leave the pub until seconds before the bus arrives.

There is another good tourism app that shows you what is around and in what direction. You will have to find it.

Hail O is the cab app.

Don't forget Kilmainham Gaol ( jail ) in Dublin. You will get a full history of modern Ireland, when you take the tour.
