Trip Report Part 3
So having left Marigot from the Scilly Cay Adventure we drove back to Divi and wandered around the Resort for a bit. By early evening, we are hungry again so off to Pineapple Pete’s another location we have constantly driven by but never been to. Easy to find in Simpson Bay, watch for the Pete’s Volkswagon Bug on the Lagoon side, heading towards Phillipsburg way. In we go and I am impressed immediately with the layout, a kind of alleyway of sorts and I note a poster on a pole referencing a publication in the Ottawa Citizen noting Pete’s as among the Top 10 Eateries in the world!
We order some drinks and I ask the sweet young Dutch waitress if the Philly/Arizona Game is on anywhere as it is rather quiet other than the good tunes playing. She leads me to a bar off the alleyway. Now I know why it is quiet. There are some Philly Fans there but they are losing Go Arizona! Love the Underdogs! Patti just loves Dogs! Woof woof. Anyway, I order the half roast chicken and Patti selects a Beef Wrap.
In Ontario we have a Roasted Chicken outfit called Swiss Chalet where then spit roast chickens, one of my favorites. Now I know the truth, there’ Pigeons!! Pete’s Chicken comes and blows me away, the best I ever had and dwarfs the Swiss Chalet Birds and is cooked perfectly. Patti enjoys the Beef Wrap as well, excellent food, this will be an automatic stop next time. Geez, finding so many we will have to spend more time there we are gathering more restaurants than days!
I know it is Sunday but traffic is really light, we are under the impression there are less tourists on the island for sure, we have been coming here a dozen years or so and the last few were way busier than this week. It did carry on way lighter than usual for the entire week.
Back to Gizmo’s Bar at Divi and we meet a great couple, Dan and Betty Brieser from Iowa. We strike a date to provide an Island Tour in the morning after providing them tips on where to go and what to do, it is their first time on St. Maarten.
Stay tuned for Part 4, gotta go!!!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
