Is the sargassum weed still prevalent around the Caribbean, and BVI specifically?

We just got back from JVD from an 18 day stay and there was no problem there.

Where we could see and smell it in July from condo on VG ..I went down to the shore in front of condo about 300 yds east and there is none.

Saw quite a bit in the water but not that bad on the beaches. That wasin early December.

We were there from Christmas to 2 days ago & as stated above, there was quite a bit in the water but we didn't find any of any consequence at the beaches we went to.
