So this is really not working yet, so I'll try again.
A large group of us (±15) are coming down next spring and will meet our boats at the Compass Point marina on St. Thomas at noon. It looks like we'll have to come in the night before (a Friday).
I did a little searching and EVERYTHING in the area from the airport over to Bolongo Bay seems to be going for $300+ a night. Am I missing something here?
I guess we could always go to the Windward Passage, but it was such a dump the last time we stayed there. I'm not enthused.
Is there something going on with hotel rates on St. Thomas? Are there no longer any accommodations for ± $200/night?

Did you check the ones recommended in the other thread? There are a number of places on the east end, not sure all 15 would be able to stay in one. Two Sandals, Paradise Cove, Harbour Beach...

You may be running into issues with pricing because the trip is so far off?

I asked the same question of the BVI TTOL folks, and some said that Windward Passage has been renovated and got a good review from a fellow named "Manpot" whose posts and reviews are highly respected. With that info, we booked one night in late May and I'll check back in here with our experience.

Windward Passage is decent, especially for a short stay, pretty good breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice

sail2wind said: Windward Passage is decent, especially for a short stay, pretty good breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice It was a hell hole when we stayed there last July. Had to move rooms because a/c wasn't working. A/c didn't work any better in the second room. They didn't even have a simple fan to offer us. This also happened in June. We were many time repeat guests throughout the years, but we are officially done with them.

We've stayed at Emerald Beach before and I just called their reservations number to, as their website states, get the best rate. Phone rang several times then went to voice mail telling me to leave a message.

I used to stay at Emerald Beach 6-8 times a year, coming and going to STJ & Tortola. Now I stay at Island Beachcomber next door. The hotel is old and worn out but clean, nice little bar/restaurant, right on the beach and a lot less than anything nearby. It's a great place to relax after flying all day before heading over to the other islands. I always spend my last night there and get a late checkout so I can continue to relax until 2 hours before my flight....no guessing about ferries or taxis. Everyone I have told about this place says it's the best option for convenience. http://islandbeachcomber.net/accomodation/standard-double-rooms/

We stayed at http://www.lindberghbayhotelandvillas.com/last trip on our way into vacation. We paid $199 for a Sunday night in late March. It was clean and quiet. The renovation isn't complete but they seem to be working on it. The private porch off our room was huge. They also have a bar over the bay where you can enjoy the lights of St Thomas after dark.

Where exactly is this located?...the ping on their map looks like further out on Lindberg Bay than Emerald Beach, but the views seem to indicate on the opposite side i.e. close to the former Carib Best Western.

I've stayed there several times and it is very convenient to STT. Rooms were clean, no complaints about the facility

Met a newlywed young couple on the ferry back to CA Wednesday who were spending the night at Lindberg Bay Hotel while we were at Emerald Beach. Saw them yesterday morning at our hotel during breakfast as they had to catch a quick shuttle from their hotel to ours for breakfast as Lindberg Bay suddenly discontinued b'fast service due to "low season". They also do not offer any type lunch service. Now if you want to talk about the check-in staff at Emerald Beach and the ridiculous "rule" that rooms are rarely available until much later than 4PM, we can talk. Check out is Noon SHARP! A "guest relations staffer" was knocking on our door at literally Noon yesterday as we were finishing packing telling us if we didn't leave immediately we'd be charged extra. All this while four housekeepers sat down on a ledge below having a big old time with each other while empty rooms sat untouched.

We stayed at Lindbergh Bay Hotel the last night of our last trip. We had an early morning flight out. Very convenient. Just walk across the street to the airport. Rooms were clean. Pool was nice. No "beach", but that was ok for our last night.
