Delta just purchased the Bombardier C100. The aircraft brings some new performance options not seen in this segment. It has the capability to depart STT at max gross weight and make almost any destination in the US. STT-LAX would be possible. In addition with only a short runway length increase at EIS it could serve most Eastern US markets. Initially it is planned as a replacement for outsourced RJ flying but it's unique performance gives route planners a tool they have not had before.

Exciting news indeed for both Delta and Bombardier.
I wouldn't count on boarding a C-series in the near future as they seem to be building these aircraft on eye-lon time and are waaaaaaayy behind schedule.

They are way behind schedule however they are now in full production and delivering the first aircraft. Delta does not get their first aircraft until early 2018. I suspect they will deliver ontime since the issues were in the certification process and the engines. All that seems to be resolved.
