Back in the 70's we used to make a 'friendship fruit' which was made and passed along to friends who added to it, passed some along, thus the 'friendship fruit'. Don't know if it was just a New England thingy but my friend from California gave me some of her 'friendship fruit'. It was enjoyed by many on ice cream, enhancing pound cakes etc. I found this recipe which reminded me of those many friendships. So, I'm sending my friendship on to you!! I don't remember the name just that it was a 'friendship starter'. Never did have a recipe just added some alcohol and fruit and passed it on. I got so sick of it but this recipes sounds a little different.
