Cooper Island Rum Bar - 02/10/2016 11:38 PM

Just wondering if the Rum Bar on Cooper is still up and running. I would like to begin a conversation about Favorite Rum Choices. My first choice is Ron Zacapa. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/drinking.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/drinking.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/drinking.gif" alt="" />
Cruising in early April with Horizon Yachts.

Yep, still up and running.

They have rum flights at $49, $79 and $99.

How does the selections work for the various flight prices? I would guess, the higher costs, the higher quality?

That's correct.

If I remember correctly the $79 flight included Mount Gay 1703 Old Cask which is one of my favorites

They also have some great rum drinks as well. Not your typical pina coladas/painkiller/mojito run of the mill drinks, but creative and unique concoctions.

We were there in November and will go back in April this year. Small place - 4 stools at the bar. Daniel the bartender was very entertaining and friendly.
We drink dark spiced rum - on the rocks. As boring (or cheap?) as they might be Kracken and Capt Morgan 1671 are our go to rums. Found Antigua 5 yr Rum on a BVI trip once and haven't found it since then.
Friends gave us a bottle of El Dorado 21 yr Rum after taking them down last year - delicious!
And we also like Old Monk - although we swear it's laced with opium or something because we usually wake up the next morning saying "what the he!$ happened last night?" <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

You guys have to try Plantation 20 Year Anniversary Edition.
A bit pricy at $50 a bottle, but unbelievable flavor.

Aged 2x, second time in cognac barrels giving it a caramel flavor. I challenge you to find a better tasting rum!

Those are good friends! That's one of my favourites, and the rum that got me into aged rums. 15 year Barbancourt is also excellent, and is a Rhum Agricole, which is my favourite style.

Best rum I have ever sloshed is the DIPLOMATICO EXCLUSIVA
MAde in Venezuela. I believe it is 25yo. Barrel aged, etc. Last week at CIBC it was $25 an ounce!
Must try it once in your life!

I personally think along with the new bar, they should have left the old bar on the beach that the patrons sat on the side of the bar that looked out at the water!

I second this, to be precise it is Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva there are three levels, you want the green bottle. Same flavor as Ron Zacapa but a little more intense, bigger as you would describe a wine.
