They are based in the T&C's but operate flights between SJU and EIS. Here's a link: http://intercaribbean.com

Perhaps they will have a impact on pricing for other airlines. SJU-EIS has to be one of the highest yielding routes per mile in the world. I expected to see more capacity come into the market sooner but it just has not happened.

Major increase in flights between BVI, San Juan

While noting that it has seen a steady increase in demand for its flights between the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and San Juan in Puerto Rico, interCaribbean Airways has announced what it calls a ‘significant increase’ in air service between the two countries.

The airline said it will “commence double daily services effective from December 19th 2016, and triple daily 4 times a week”.

It stated that the new morning and evening services give the opportunity for business and leisure travelers in the BVI and Puerto Rico to visit for a day, and be home in time for dinner.

The flights will be operated by EMB 120 aircraft, which the airline said is the fastest turbo prop plane in its class, making it the quickest connection.

“Since we first began service into the San Juan to Tortola, we have seen a steady increase in the demand for our flights. We are pleased to respond to this demand with significant increase in flights between two favorite islands; and in addition to new daily flights from Tortola to Antigua,” said Trevor Sadler, interCaribbean chief executive officer.

It is certainly over due. To fly into Tortola was three times as much for me compared to flying into ST Thomas. The savings appeared to be worth the time and hassle of ferrying over. It will be interesting to see how this goes for future adventures.

I booked with them a few weeks ago for 13px/rt, SJU-EIS, for ~$260pp. Beats the he77 out of the $700/pp Cape Air was asking.

I agree, it is way overdue. Now if someone would come up with a reliable link to St. Maarten, I would be thrilled. I try to avoid San Juan at all costs. I much prefer to catch connections out of St. Maarten.

Winair is actually not bad from Tortola to SXM. Certainly better than Liat..

Ok so. If you book with InterC directly, does that mean if I fly to SJU on AA and check a bag, I'll have to go out of security, claim my bag. Then check in and check the bag with InterC and go back through security?

How much money would make that OK with you ?? If you saved 300 , 400, 500 bucks, SJU to EIS, would the extra effort be worth it ?

Avoid the STT taxi-ferry- C&I shuffle ? Not have to worry about missing the last ferry to West End or Road Town? Not have to fork over nearly a grand for a water taxi, or pay single night rack rate for a room ( or rooms) in CA ?

Dollar value questions are always subjective, value is where one finds or perceives it.

What would make that worth your while ?

I get what you're saying but the effort wasn't really my concern. I wanted to make sure I understand the process correctly so that I leave enough time in the layover. The normal 45 min to an hour won't work. It seems like you'd need to have a min 2 hours. Anyone done this and have a guideline they recommend?

I am not sure about that. As a old Navy pilot our rule of thumb was 1 minute of flying equals 1 week of swimming!!

I would not be comfortable with less than 1.5 hours. I wonder if this airline has baggage (interline /code share)agreements with any of the large carriers like Seaborne and Cape Air have?

The few times I've gone through SJU the connecting airlines have rec'd two hours for the layover to take care of baggage, etc. However, speak with your connecting airline - some will take your bags and handle the whole process for you (i.e. BVI Airlink has done this for my group & me before).
