Landing at STT at 12:55pm on a Monday in late April. Was planning to take the 2:30 ferry from Charlotte Amalie (CA) to RoadTown (RT) and then taxi to West End and catch the 6:00 to JVD. Now they've changed the schedule and the CA to RT ferry leaves at 2:00. If our flight is on time, are we still better off trying to make the 2:00 from CA or should we go for the 2:30 out of Red Hook and hopefully catch the 4:00 to JVD?

If our flight is late and we miss both of the above, which gives a better chance of still making the 6:00 from West End ... 4:00 from CA or 5:00 from Red Hook? I know both of them would be cutting it really close.

How many in your party? Have you thought about a water taxi? Yes, it is expensive but will deliver you right to the dock in Great Harbour. No worry, no hassle.

Obviously, any ferry that dumps you into West End is your best option but you also have to consider that the drive to Redhook adds 30 minutes to your trip so in many cases (in event of delays) attempting to get there doesn't save you time. In other words, if you miss the 2PM, you will miss the 2:30 as well.

Only 2 of us so water taxi seems a bit excessive. We booked our first night at Ali Babas so if our flight is really late we're only out $250, still cheaper than a water taxi. We'll just have to scramble to find a room on Tortola if we miss that last ferry to JVD. We'd of course prefer the Red Hook ferry at 2:30 so that we could hop on the 4:00 out of west end but I'm just concerned about traffic. Two cruise ships in port in STT that day leaving at 6pm. Back to my original question, which ferry do I have better odds of catching the 2:00 from CA or the 2:30 from Red Hook? Should we even bother going to Red Hook or just go straight to CA?
