I was trying to figure this out, too.
It's never happened to us but we own fixed weeks in fixed units and while they are different weeks and we do sometimes have to move from unit to unit, the property has worked with us a few times to put us in similar but unowned units, too. The trade off has been they kept our two bedroom as we were perfectly content to stay in a one bedroom for the whole trip. I'd be very upset if I owned a unit and was told upon arrival it was unavailable because someone else was in it and wouldn't move.
