What is going on with this (expletive deleted) favorite island of ours?!

Honestly, in all our 43+ years of at least one and sometimes two or more visits each year, I have NEVER seen weather like this. No brilliant sunrise to start the day and winds too strong and air temps too nippy to enjoy sitting on the balcony...... instead of a swimsuit, a lined jacket is more the order of the morning. And sadly, the SXM meteorologists are saying this is to be day four in a row. And only yesterday we were looking at a small solar farm here and thinking finally - what a great idea with all this island sun.

Just like home. - those weather forecasters never quite get it right. Turned out to be a beautiful day and we ended up spending it at El Zafiro. The water was a little too rough for me and there was still some seaweed coming in, but it was still a great place to spend the better part of the day. For the full time we were there, from about 9:30 till 2:00 the maximum number of chaises in use was only four set-ups and they're so widely spaced it's almost like being alone.

Lunch consisted of a pulled pork baguette sandwich with yummy sweet potato fries for John and a lovely Greek salad for me. Two island style potent fruit punches rounded out the meal and while I have no clue what we spent I know it was reasonable and they do add a service charge.

And for another treat - we got to see the beautiful little Bella if only ever so briefly. We just knew when she was tiny she would be a beautiful child and she's living up to our expectations. We also saw two sweet little youngsters trying to fly a kite and playing on the beach but the best entertainment of the day was watching the seagulls and other island birds dining in the waters in front of us. No yachts at anchor - either they've moored elsewhere due to the swells or they've mostly departed for the season.

Dinner was another easy night - just haven't been in the right mindset for big dinners and evenings out. That will come soon, I'm sure but for tonight we were both perfectly content to stay in and feast on the bounties brought to us by Jeannie of Shopndrop St. Maarten. It is so nice to have those options.......

And as a side note, the golf course is now a pretty shade of green and Mullet Ocean and all it's little tributaries have pretty much dried up and you can now go up the hill again to Starz Casino area without fording the high waters - oh what a difference a day of serious sunshine can make.

Respectfully,

pat
