Travel day. Direct flight from Montreal this year. Westjet will have two flights a week from Montreal this season, which is good news for us not to have to go through Toronto. Arrived early, no line at passport control and bags arrived within 10 mins. Off to Empress to pick up our car. Drive through Simpson Bay was slow, but speed increased after the roundabout and we actually arrived at Princess Heights in daylight which has not happened in a long time. Unpacked and then went to Daniels by the Sea for our traditiional first dinner of our stay.

First observations. Cloudy when we arrived and had a strong thunderstorm during the night and still cloudy this a.m. The island has benefited from all the rain as it is nice and green. Dawn Beach is quite clear of seaweed for the first time in 3 years.
Seems to be an increase of abandoned cargo containers along the roads, especially in the Philipsburg area.
