Just back from a great trip to SXM. Was a "book end" stay. We stayed a few days at Grand Case Beach Club which was great (and the walk to town was no problem at night, incidently). Had great meals at Le Shore (which has brough a Nikki Beach vibe to the strip) and Spicy. I loved staying in Grand Case and would definitely do so again!
Finally made it to the famous "Tropicana" for lunch in Marigot. While the greeting was warm, food excellent, and the service prompt, the waiter suddenly changed personalities at the end and ignored us when we politely asked for the bill. After 3 requests (polite) over a 45-minute period, it took the bloom off the rose for me.
On the way back we stayed at the Holland House Hotel (which is a good hotel for a short stay). The onsite restaurant Ocean Lounge was very good. My husband got his shopping fix in Phillipsburg.
Other than the French waiter, everyone else was friendly, happy to see us and very helpful.
