Friday (15th): Ms. Thang entertained us with some ‘pole dancing’ last night before we retired for the day. Somebody cut her off the ‘pain killers’, rum & coke, wine, etc., etc. Last full day - oh no!! We want this to go on forever. We head over to Great Camanoe and pass by Marina Cay - very colorful and pretty. We go on by Scrub Island and anchor in Cam Bay. Two Southern Sting Rays here and Sha-na-na will not get in the water - she is freaked out over the Sting Rays. She takes over Nancy’s dipping from the ladder since Nancy can’t hold onto the ladder and dip now. The rest of us jump in the water and start snorkeling - Jim got a great video of some squid. I also saw a Sea Biscuit - first one I have ever seen in the ocean.
Capt. Lorrin and Capt. Eddie radio to Scrub Island and get permission for us to come over and check out the resort. We load up in the dingy except for Peggy and Charlene, they elect to stay behind and get started on the pity party. Did I say we really don’t want our vacation to end and go home? The rest of us make it to Scrub Island, enjoy the pool, water slide and the swim up bar. ‘Limin’ at Scrub Island and Jace loves the slide. It is really a nice resort and we have a good afternoon. We dry off and take a quick tour of the rooms and then head back to the boat.
We pull up anchor and head back around the corner in between Marina Cay and Trellis Bay to anchor for the night. After supper, Eddie, Lorrin, Jim, Jace and I head over to Trellis Bay to the Full Moon Party. It took a while but they finally got all the fire sculptures burning and then lit the “Burning Man”. In a few minutes, the dancers came out on the stilts and joined the party. It is amazing how long they can stay on those stilts, walking in the soft sand and letting people dance between their ‘legs’. They even had one young kid on the stilts and no one fell down - really amazing!
The yacht, “Relentless”, was anchored out where we were and we saw some of the staff at the Full Moon Party - some really cute guys - oh to be young again! Everyone is right - that is one fabulous boat - I might could afford 15 minutes on her. We head back to the boat and turn in for the evening.
Saturday (16th): On no, this day is really here. As we sail into Soper’s Hole, Eddie & Lorrin point out Smuggler’s Cove to us. It is really hard to see it through the tears. We pull up at the dock & unload then stood there crying as they sailed away.
On previous trips to St. John whenever I would book a day charter months in advance, I was always told they would take me anywhere I wanted to go. Then get on the boat and for some reason, did not go where we had requested (of course, we had already paid by then). Capt. Eddie and Capt. Lorrin did not do that - they made every effort to take us where we wanted to go. For that, we will always be truly grateful.
I would also like to give a big shout out to Laura of Custom Sailing Shirts as she made some great towels for the crew and wrap koozies for the group - it all was a big hit! Thanks!
I believe God decided one day to make Paradise and then he called it the British Virgin Islands..it is a wonderful, magical place and we had
