With kids you should definitely do Pinel Island.
The ferry leaves from Cul de Sac and first trip is usually around 9:30.
There are two restaurants there, Yellow Beach and Karibuni.
I prefer Yellow Beach.
Pinel Island has great swimming for kids, water is shallow and warm.
