Private drivers are fine but you should know that there is a taxi coordinator just outside the baggage claim area (which is open to the outside so you can see it easily...it's a small airport <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />) and all you have to do is say there are six of us to Red Hook and say what time the ferry is you want to catch. Just ask if you can be in a cab that just goes to Red Hook esp. if you have a tight connection. If they do make any stops, it'll be on the way. Note that at high traffic times, they are likely to take the route over the mountain which avoids all the traffic at the downtown Charlotte Amalie ferry dock, the usual "drivetime" jam in town as well as the jam-up at the cruise terminals. At any flight arrival, there are usually a dozen or more cabs and most are 7-9 passenger size. Yes, they charge for each bag they haul that goes in the trunk (carry your personal bag of course but luggage does go in the trunk). You will be all set. Have fun!
