we've used VRBO/AirBnB a handful of times in europe and the caribbean without issues...but i'm usually a little nervous, especially during peak seasons, which is usually when we travel...i'm concerned the owner cancels the reservation, "forgets" we're coming, or some other issue with the unit arises, and we're stuck scrambling for a replacement

but we have had some scares recently...one with our booking in St. Barth for next NYE and another in SXM with our bookings for May and Dec/Jan...luckily we have been able to find substitutions, but it's still disconcerting knowing you're at the mercy of the individual property owners
