We arrived on island Friday from Miami. Unfortunately, on Monday night my wife woke up with a lot of stuffiness and was not able to breath through her nose. Her nose ran the whole next day and continued into Wednesday, accompanied by a cough.

We had brought a few Covid tests with us and decided to use one. Sure enough, she tested positive and fortunately, I tested negative. The next morning I went to the pharmacy to get some over the counter medicines and then a few more groceries and beverages in case I ended up also testing positive. While at the pharmacy, I decided to get a few extra test kits. They were $10 each and only a single test per package! Quite a change from having the government and some insurance companies give you free test kits.

So the moral of my story is, stick some test kits in your luggage when you come.

As for my wife, she is out of isolation as of this morning and has also tested negative, as have I. Fortunately, she is here multiple weeks and this is not a huge vacation killer.

As a side note, 3 or 4 of the resort workers that we have known for years and had given us ‘welcome home’ hugs on arrival stated “wow, that is still around?” when I told them that she had Covid. My assumption is that at $10 a test, no one is testing themselves here if they get sick.
