"Traffic Advisory for Cruise Ship Activities on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024

The Sint Maarten Police Force would like to inform the public about the upcoming bustling cruise ship activities scheduled for Wednesday, January 31st, 2024. On this day, the port of Sint Maarten may be hosting a total of six cruise vessels, contributing to a significant influx of visitors to our island.

In light of this anticipated surge in tourist activities, we would like to alert residents and visitors alike to exercise caution and patience due to the expected traffic congestion. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and consider alternative means of transportation if possible.

Additionally, to facilitate the smooth flow of activities and ensure the safety of all, the following traffic management measures will be implemented:

Road Closure on Front Street:
Front Street will be closed off to through traffic, starting from the L’Escargot Alley (Smid Street). This closure is necessary to accommodate the increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic associated with the cruise ship arrivals.

Closure around the Methodist Church:
A section of Front Street, specifically around the Methodist Church, will be temporarily blocked off due to an ongoing funeral. We kindly ask for the public's understanding and cooperation during this period.

Alternative Routes for Taxis and Tour Operators:
Taxis and tour operators are advised to utilize Willhelmina Straat to access Front Street during the aforementioned closures. This will help ensure a smooth and organized flow of traffic in the area.

KPSM urges all members of the public to be patient and understanding during these busy times. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to the traffic management measures, as they are implemented to guarantee the safety and well-being of everyone on the island."
