Yesterday was Tuesday and we stayed at Grand Case the whole day. We went on the Creole Rock Watersports snorkeling trip out of GCBC in the am. A small boat takes you out to near Creole Rock and we were told we would have 45 minutes to snorkel and see the fish there then a second stop in deeper water for 45 minutes to see turtles. Saw lots of varieties of fish in the first stop - though my wife and I were unsure of how we were supposed to know to come back to the boat - it all worked out okay. As we were about to leave for the second part, the guide said oh no, and it appears that a larger group was anchoring at the turtle spot he wanted to take us to. He ended up motoring to almost the other side of Grand Case near the rocks . He anchored there and I did get to see a turtle, though only for a second or two as it swam away. Water was pretty choppy, so he had us back on the boat pretty quick and headed to shore. On a sunny day with calm water , the turtle part would probably be better.
We then went to the latest version of Harmony nights - I think it is called les mardis de Grand Case. The streets were pretty packed, and the Lolos put out extra tables in the streets. We ended up at Quai 58 - a little place adjacent to the Lolos and on the water. Mostly a place for drinks and tapas though they do have burgers and salads. My wife got the chicken spring rolls, which were excellent. We did not stay for the parade, but there were lots of vendors in the streets - jewerly , photos, food , etc. Dessert was the Lemon from Sebastien - wow.
This morning we decided to try Dawn Beach. We did get there, and the beach looked okay - just a little bit of seaweed, but there was a steady wind coming on to the beach, with a bit of mist, and the sky was very overcast- so we went back to Grand Case. Overcast most of the day, but a few pockets of sun. Dinner was Orient Village - place was hopping but we got a table at Le Piment at 6 pm for 2 with no reservations. The restaurants were all doing well by the time we left, though there did seem to be empty tables at most of them and it looked like you could still get a table without a reservation. My wife got the mushroom ravoli with ham which she said was very good. I got the Regina Pizza which was fine. Dessert was again from Sebastien - a triple chocolate concoction- extremely good, though IMO, not as incredible tasting as his lemon dessert. Tomorrow is our last full day on the island - dinner plans are Spiga. We have heard great things and are looking forward.
