I had the opportunity to fulfill my dream of bareboat chartering in the BVI’s.
Our crew consists of my wife, daughter, and son, my brother (Co-Captain), and two nephews and myself (Co-Captain). The boat was a Sunsail Jeanneau DS-43.

After the boat / chart briefing and provisioning, we left Maya Cove for a wonderful short evening sail to Cooper Island. At cooper we picked up a mooring ball and took the dinghy over to the island for some sunset R & R.

July 21
We left Cooper Island early morning and sailed to the Baths on Virgin Gorda. We picked up a mooring and spent about 5 hrs exploring the Baths. It was breathtaking even though we had to be careful swimming because of Jellyfish in the water. We then sailed to Leverick Bay on the Virgin Gorda North Sound in time for the Leverick Bay Friday night BBQ and Moko Jumbie show.

July 22
After topping off our tanks with water at Leverick Bay, we motored over to the Bitter End; we spent the day at Bitter End enjoying some of the resorts amenities. We had time for a quick dinghy ride over to Saba Rock (without the kids) for a few painkillers.

July 23
We left the North Sound for a beautiful sail to Marina Cay. We spent the remainder of the day snorkeling, and walking the island. Sorry Donovan’s was closed for renovations, I hope its open for my return trip.

July 24
We left Marina Cay early that morning for Jost Van Dyke via Sandy Cay. We sailed between Scrub Island and great Camanoe and around northern Tortola to Sandy Cay (the best beach of the trip) for a few hours, and then we sailed to Little Harbour Jost Van Dyke. Had the best lobster dinner at Sidney’s and the best P-killers and B-whackers with Rafael at Foxy’s. Sorry we didn’t have time to visit Soggy Dollar.

July 25
This was our last day of sail. We left Little Harbour that morning and sailed to the Bight Norman Island. We hiked around the island swim / snorkeled but didn’t find the $450K of treasures supposedly left there in the 1700’s. We left Norman Island that evening sailed back to Sunsail base on the main land.
I’ll like to commend the Sunsail folks for the excellent services provided to us. The boat, the facilities were top notch.
