Just finalized our plans for our April charter! Hurray!
We'll be on Kindred Soul chartered from TMM from 4/19-4/27.
This will be our first charter trip where we are NOT captaining the boat. We sailed with friends on Orion out of TMM about a year ago; after that our friend took his ASA classes so he's choosing the boat and captaining this trip.
Flying into STT 4/15 and spending the night at Emerald Beach then ferry to Tortola next morning where we'll spend the next 3 nights before our charter at an Airbnb in Cane Garden Bay. Looking forward to dinners at Bananakeet and Sugar Mill while we're on Tortola - Sugar Mill was one of our favorites on our last trip (thanks Mal for the recommendation). It's also going to be the first time we don't bring a cooler of food with us - this group is going to want to eat out mostly so we'll just provision for breakfasts and lunches at Riteway.
Definitely going to be a different trip for us (letting someone else be in charge!) but I'm soooooo looking forward to being back in the islands! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" />

You will have lots of fun... Same location.Different boat. Different menu(dining out every night). Different anchorages. Different experience...

But one GREAT time! Have FUN!

I'm considering packing a lot less this trip too.
For instance, beach towels take up a lot of space and our charter company doesn't provide them. Can I buy a couple of cheap beach towels in CGB? It's not clothes that take up space in our suitcases as much as it is the "nice to have" things! (the biggest is probably our snorkel gear)

I just walked by and checked the gift shop at the Elm and they have beach towels...

TMM supplies mask fins and snorkel. The fins are decent snorkel fins.

Perfect! $20 might be worth not lugging them with us.
Warren, I knew they had snorkel equipment - just didn't know how good it really was. Def bringing my own mask & snorkel but might reconsider on the fins and just use theirs. Thanks!

Fins are heavy and take up space. Snorkel fins are a little more flexible than scuba funs. As long as you know the difference you should be good.

Snorkel fins have a little less power than soccer fins.

Most of my guests are happy with the TMM fins.

Just inventoried our snorkel equipment - I need a new mask and husband needs new fins. Two options: buy off the internet before we leave or buy on island when we get to Tortola.
I'm a little leery of buying that kind of thing on-line. Any recommendations of where to buy on Tortola? Roadtown or CGB would be convenient for us.
(We live in Northern Michigan and I"m not sure there's anywhere near us to buy snorkel equipment)

I've heard good things about this place, but have no first hand knowledge.

I would never buy a mask I couldn't check the fit first. It's THE most important part of a mask...a good seal on your face. So you are correct to be leery of doing that via Internet.

I would recommend you GOOGLE "SCUBA shops" near you... It appears there are several near you. I would bet their quality would be equal to/ better than BVI and the prices likely less than BVI. Also you would know that you have a mask that fits before departure. And of course, if none found before departure, you can buy in BVI.

Well who knew - sometimes the answer is right in front of you. I found a few dive shops about 45 minutes from us. Thanks!!
