Hi all,
I just signed up for photobucket yesterday and the first photo I tried to edit and post via the various helpful posts here, I got the message that to post on 3rd party sites, I'd have to pay $399.00 for a yearly subscription to their Plus program. Are the TTOLers that frequently post photos subscribed to this? Has anyone come across this?

Photobucket just changed their policies in the last week. Lot of people upset.

Use Google Plus for your photos. It is free and very easy to use.

Elizabeth...is Google Plus private like PhotoBucket was? ie. you can lock it from viewing without the link?
Or is it public to all, and it can be browsed in Collections? I am looking into getting it now, as I just found that my trip reports are now without pictures!Boo!

Aww, thank you Carol!! I looked back at last Oct/Nov and was so sad to see the dreaded grey box.. Good thing I have the reports on a Word doc, so I think I can recreate the pictures and insert them once I have a hosting sight. It'll be a little work, but I refuse to allow PB to destroy my reports! ((though not sure if I have the energy to go back more than two years...lol))

I received an email from PhotoBucket this past week that they noticed I posted to 3rd parties and they were limiting what I could do unless I paid for a subscription.
I have not used PB in a few months but I do use it whenever we travel to SXM to post here.

It would be a lot of work, for sure. You might want to look at the thread in the BVI forum about this topic, as some people are thinking about hosting their own domain. Then no one can mess with you...

Yes, it can be made private "only you" or public for posting on a forum. Very easy to use and very efficient. I have been using it for several years and have been totally satisfied. It is much better than Photo Bucket.

I find this confusing. I've "subscribed" to PhotoBucket for a few years now for $29.99 per year. I use their direct links for putting photos in my TTOL trip reports and haven't received any information that I will need to pay more. And the links in my past trip reports still seem to be working.
  Confused . . . .

Is their business model that they really expect people will pay that when there are free hosting services?!
I guess the photo gift items weren't producing enough income.
