Does anybody know where to find the trail that goes from the Sandbox to the east side beach on Prickly Pear? Is there anybody who knows the condition of it post hurricane? Going next week and would love to check it out.

Thanks!

I tried this many years ago and even asked directions from the local lady at the bar (maybe Gumption's mom or relative).

If there ever was a path, it was entirely unidentifiable. I went back to ask if I'd gone the wrong direction and she suggested just walking around the shoreline. That too proved to be to great a challenge with the tree roots.

Perhaps you will have more luck, that was just my experience back in 2011 or so.

Here is where 'I think' it is (or was):

You can actually see it on google maps:

Unfortunately the trail wasn't maintained for several years prior to Irma, and had largely disappeared. But if you're the hearty type, you can follow the natural goat trails and ghuts and accomplish the mission. Basically, head up first between the two salt ponds, then in the saddle between the two hills. The trail can get squishy at the beginning and the end.

We were there last week and looked for the trail. Lots and lots of trees and brush blown around, I don’t think you can do it now..... maybe your luck will be better than ours.
