Just returned from 10th annual trip and wanted to give a few newly learned facts (opinions).

Here are our memorable restaurant experiences.

Best Buy [Linked Image]– Berry’s in Simpson bay area – Great fish including shrimp with a salad and either baked potato, French fries or ‘rice of the day’ for $10. Turn next to Pizza Hut (right going towards Philipsburg or left towards airport) and follow the road just around curve – Berry’s is on your right. Try it – you’ll like it. And you’ll like Julian and April Berry.

Worst Buy -[Linked Image] CITRUS [Linked Image] - Atmosphere and service were fine but food was awful (not eatable). We ordered the specials – scallop carpaccio was pasty and flavorless – the lamb chop vegetables had an awful combination of spices that all four of us could not tolerate. And on top of that it was the most expensive meal. We will never never never never never go back.

Best Surprise – Mary’s Boon – We’ve heard about this place for years and never tried it, even though we own at the Royal Islander and it is very close. We ate there twice this year and the food/service/value was great. Met Dicky and he bought us a drink before dinner.

Of course Mario’s, Rainbow, Piccolo, and Tropicana are still good but that’s not news.

The beach at Pinel is even smaller than last year. The sand bar is completely gone.

The water was CLEAR (unusual around new years) and snorkeling was good for a change.

The new road to Philipsburg is great and takes some of the traffic off the old road.

First Impression in Maho has beach chairs for $17. (2 or 3 stores down from Cheri’s).

Bob
