Go to the appropriate Photo Gallery, which could be BVI or SXM or General . Click on New Image Gallery. Put in a title for the gallery, which could be your name, or what the picture is about, such as “Irma Satellite Image”, and if you want, put something in the description. Then click on the paperclip, Image Manager. Put a caption to the file if you want, and then click on the “select a file to attach” (from somewhere on your PC, for example), OR click on the “drag it here”. You can attach up to 20 files at one time. For whatever reason, the pictures will NOT show up when you preview the Post. But they should be there when you actually post it to the forum.

Carol, Do the photos have to be reduced to a certain size?
Thanks,
Sammy

Sammy--I think the max is 8 megs. If smaller than that, just upload them and the program will automatically reduce the size.

In the photo gallery you do not have the reduce the photo like before. The only consideration would be your internet connection. If it is slow or uses data charges, then you probably would want to reduce them before uploading. Also in the photo gallery you do not have to do them at one setting, as you have 30 days to add additional photos or delete photos that you do not like the after the fact.

The only other thing is that there is currently a maximum of 20 photos per gallery.

Carol,
I can upload to the image gallery just fine but when I upload a photo in portrait format, it shows up as landscape format.
Is it possible to rotate once uploaded to the gallery?

I assume you uploaded from a phone? That is an issue with some phones that we discovered during testing. Once uploaded the person can view and flip the picture in the gallery but there is no way to save the rotated picture.

It is a result of how some phones attach extra data to the photo -- works great for viewing the photo on a phone, but not for the gallery.

It can be fixed, but on your end and computer. Think their is also a app that can strip out the extra data that causes the problem, but it might also break it for viewing on the phone, not sure about that. I know that the instructions have been posted, will see about finding them or have Beachkitten repost the instruction here as an FAQ.

vetteguy--as Eric said, it's only cell phone pictures that we seem to have that problem with. Nice pictures! You can add to your gallery for up to 30 days. Hope you have some more. You must have gotten on a chase boat?

The photos were shot on a DSLR, transferred to my computer and then rotated to portrait format.
I uploaded to the gallery in portrait format so I'm not sure what went wrong.

Ok , not sure what you did. The original shot was landscape and you cropped it and rotated it? Guess I am not following what you did to the original photo as why would you need to rotate it at all.

OK - idiot question. I uploaded a photo to a new gallery. When I click on "new thread," it allows me to post a new thread in the Gallery. How do I get the image to the SXM forum? I did post something there by browsing my PC for the image, but I would have preferred a larger size in the thread.

Generally what you do is to click on the photo in the gallery, then you right click and copy link. Then in the forum you use the image tag to link it and display it in your post.

Has something changed, or is my brain soaked with too many rum punches? I thought that when we were testing the photo forum you could edit and add more images to your gallery? I can't seem to do that now. I started one last night, and wanted to add more pics (up to the 20) today and can't upload more....I'd have to start ANOTHER gallery?

EDIT: NEVERMIND! lol....I figured it out. Helps to have coffee before attempting technology. wink

I've been trying to upload a photo from my PC that is in Portrait mode on my PC but when I upload it, it goes to landscape. I've tried using a smaller version and editing it on my PC before uploading but nothing helps. Any ideas?

I've uploaded pics to the gallery but can't figure our how to get them into post. Obviously, I'm technically challenged. I can't seem to find a link to copy and post.

Hi. As you did before, you right click on the picture to give you the url of the picture and use the IMAGE tag to post the picture.

How do I get the photos from the image gallery to my trip report, I seem to remember that the last time I did it a the photos had a code that could be copied, but I'm not seeing that now.
