Just got back yesterday. The beach was wonderful. It was a mix of cruisers and nudists but for the most part the original vibe at the beach was about the same. More clothed at the perch including taxi drivers sitting there drinking beer and being a bit loud. No one seemed to notice or pay attention to those who were nude. I would not hesitate to go. They need the money. We spoke with many on the island who need their industry back, which is primarily tourism. My original concern would be the ambiance of the beach as we knew it years past would change, but it pretty much is as good as its ever been. Beach is larger now. Irma brought some sand in.

I assumed the taxi drivers were waiting for their customers to finish their day at the beach, but who knows?

The taxi drivers I saw a few weeks ago were waiting for riders to show up. When I walk towards my car, they asked me if I needed a taxi. I did not notice what they were drinking. The French laws are really strict on drinking and driving so I doubt they were drinking alcohol. I did not see taxi drivers on the days that no ships were in port.
