4 couples are looking to charter a catamaran or sailboat that would accomodate 4 couples for 7 to 10 days. We are not experienced sailors so would need crew and cook onboard. Ideas would be appreciated, also best time to go.

Several sponsors here could probably help. Mustang Sally comes to mind. Perhaps Blue Moon, but 4 couples + 2 crew could be tight on Blue Moon. Beautiful Yacht though.

Also, CYOA has a couple of big sailing cats and could probably put 4 couple in + Capt & Cook.

You will be way more comfortable on a cat. Catatonic is an awesome cat, but not sure it can do 8 people. You can get a cat from any charter company and hire a chef and cook, but you are probably looking at a 50' Voyage, something that will accommodate 10. The best time to go is when all eight of you have 10 days off together, it's always great in da ilons mon.

I will be happy to help you find the perfect situation. No Catatonic cannot do 8 people plus crew comfortably but we do have other options for you.

I thought a catamaran was a sailboat!!

If you're not sailors, you definitely want a catamaran. It's difficult for non-sailors to enjoy cruising at 15-20 degrees of heel. Whenever we take non-sailors with us, we only do cats.

We've only had non-sailors along as guests and they've enjoyed all of it. Not difficult at all!

A boat with a sail, at best!

Come on now, "sailors" in the Pacific have favored multihulls for centuries!! We have owned and raced many monohulls over the years and I love hiking out on a heeling race boat, but when we finally retire and start cruising, no question it will be on a big cat!!!

You can always ask a professional broker (like me) to recommend some yachts that work best for your group and are available for your dates. A broker represents all crewed yachts and around can give you an independent advise.
