My and my family will book a flight to Spain and go to the wonderful island of Canary. I've heard so many great things about this place and im just fascinated about the island. I've decided not to waste any minutes and and booked a flight next month with my family. This will be the first time we will be going out of the country and I'm really excited as much as my family is. How about you guys. Any travel plans this year?

The main ones are Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Lanzarote, but there are some other smaller ones which are accessible by ferry. The character of the various islands is quite different. Gran Canaria is a fairly uninhibited place, popular with gay and lifestyle (swinger) tourists. Fuerteventura has by far the best beaches, but not much nightlife. Tenerife has generally poor beaches, but a lot of package-holiday tourists looking for cheap food and cheap drinks. Lanzarote also has a big contingent of cheap package holiday tourists. If you're going in February, the weather should be OK, but might not be warm enough for sunbathing on the beach.

would like to see some photos of your trip too! hope you like it. where are you staying? I travelled to Tenerife last year in August and I had a whale of time. we rented a splendid villa https://tranio.com/spain/adt/1194547/ and the views, nature and people totally topped my expectations. I really look forward to going there again and exploring the islands some more

Go anywhere south of Madrid in summer and you'll find that the place is an absolute furnace. Temperatures in cities such as Seville and Cordoba regularly nudge 40 degrees during July and August, making it pretty uncomfortable for travelers. It makes you appreciate why siestas are so popular.

Last year I visited Barcelona for the first time! It was fantastic! It was my first trip to Spain. My friend and I booked a rather cheap hotel for 3 nights with all conveniences here - https://hotelfriend.com/p/short-vacation. Since then, I have been using this service every time I plan to go somewhere.

Even we are visiting Spain soon and we are going to cover Tenerife island this year. It is not less than a dream come true for me. I had done all of the research to find which island is better as per the season we are visiting, our budget and various other factors. I found really good info on this forum as well as others- https://www.tripadvisor.co.za/ShowT...on_from_first_timers-Canary_Islands.html and http://www.tripindicator.com/which-is-better-tenerife-or-gran-canaria-or-lanzarote.htmlI am still confused about the trip because haven't been on an island before. Are there any tips and suggestions to follow? I just want to make best out of my trip!

Your date is when it starts not when the large carnival event begins so I am not incorrect, even states it on the page you listed, I have been there a few times so don't need to google the event.
Depends what you term a "large carnival", there are many carnivals throughout the whole 3-week period.

A lot depends on what you're hoping to do on your island visit. If you want to lie on a beach, Fuerteventura has by far the best beaches. If you want to drive around and look at scenery, Tenerife or Gran Canaria would be the choices. If you want night life, Gran Canaria or Tenerife again. In my experience, Lanzarote isn't particularly attractive. If you're decided on Tenerife, hire a car and drive around the island. There are some great sights. Be aware that a lot of the tourist resorts are fairly dreadful places. There's a lot of traffic in the tourist areas, parking is difficult. The beaches on Tenerife aren't great.

I am currently coming to the end of a ten day holiday on Lanzarote, our fourth visit to this wonderful island. With the Canary Islands group, it is a question of doing your research into which stand will suit you best. In the past we have visited La Palma (too small and quiet), Fuerteventura (far too windy) , La Graciosa (a day trip is more than too long a time) and Tenerife ( we hated nearly every minute, far too touristy, mountainous and scary roads for us). Lanzarote at first looks very bleak as it suffered tremendous volcanic activity during the 18 + 19th centuries, but is actually quite fascinating. Leave the major tourist areas of some of the Costas, and you can still find unspoilt pretty white villages, great little cafes serving real Canarian foods and genuine people. Maybe not for the masses, but we love it here. Most visitors to this island return time and again. Do your research, look at reviews carefully and you can have a wonderful time. Bear in mind, however that the whole group of islands are nearer to Africa than to mainland Europe. Very few Americans come here, expect hotel grading to be different than your expectations and service quite slow.
