Can't answer your time share rental question, but we've used Air BnB for part of our trip last February and have booked places for our October and February trips this year.
Next SXM visit -November 2023. Also January 2024.

We've had great luck with VRBO. We haven't used it for SXM, but we've used it for Miami twice (once last November and once this past April) with great results. https://www.vrbo.com
