I've read on Facebook (posted by those who live on island) that people who were accustomed to using their Bank of America card at Nova Scotia ATMs will now be charged a $5 fee for using the ATMs when Nova Scotia changes to Bank of the Republic this weekend. Apparently this is a fee imposed by BofA, not Republic.

FYI

Republic Bank is already in service and Scotia is gone. We have been twice and BOA charged $5 each transaction.

Some financial businesses will reimburse any ATM fees when using their card. Our credit union offers that.

Yup, Schwab has been doing that for years..any fee anywhere and no exchange fees. Many other banks have joined in but some require a certain balance to be left in the account...some banks have different card perks. TD Bank does have a few "maybe's" as a sample. Point is I believe it's better to just find a card that allows no fee withdrawals anywhere and keep it simple

Depending on the TD Bank account you have:

You may or may not be charged by TD Bank for using a non-TD ATM to complete a withdrawal, transfer or balance inquiry.*
The owner of the machine (or network) may assess a fee (surcharge) at the time of your transaction, including for balance inquiries.
TD Bank may reimburse you for the fees charged by the owner of the non-TD ATM at the end of each statement cycle if you maintain a $2,500 minimum balance for the entire statement cycle.*
If you use any ATM in a foreign country, you may also incur international, currency exchange and usage fees regardless of the type of account you have at TD Bank.

BA and Scotia Bank had a reciprocal agreement. Republic, no. BA needs to get its [censored] in gear.

We are leaving now to head up to Jordan Village. We will catch up at some point.

Be happy with a $5 fee, and make a maximum withdrawal. The next step for BOFA will likely be a change to a 3% fee.
