The last full day can mean so many different things to so many different people. To us, it meant we should get our collective butts up early, have our coffee and head out to the Yacht Club for breakfast and some boat watching.
The big boys really are coming back and we were surprised at the number of returnees since we were there the other day. We missed the early bridge opening but in doing so, we were able to see the Solo come through. Wow! There were a few other boats that came through - some sail and some power - but this one was awesome! I think there were more staff members on the Solo watching their fenders than there were patrons at the yacht club watching the boats and that’s saying something. We had seen the Solo from our deck early this morning lining up to enter the lagoon and we knew it would be quite the show and trust me, it was!
We were also joined by Ann Molton and we were able to have a few quiet moments with her before she connected with her beach buddies for the day and another surprise was running into people originally from home who we knew of but really didn’t know up close and personally. We attended the same Church and had mutual friends and acquaintances and even had kids who went to the same school at about the same time. But our one and only real connection was all our annual SXM vacations which often coincided and the fact they frequently followed my trip reports because of this. It really is a very small world out there and it was nice to now have a physical persona to attach to the names, so thank you, Chic and Lynn, for seeking us out and stopping and saying hello.
Did a few errands, gassed up our vehicle and did a little shopping along the way back to Beachside. And now reality sets in. - time to try to stuff all our stuff back into those two black bags that are sitting on our bed taunting me and waiting to be stuffed. It’s almost like they’re saying, “We dare you,” but it’s got to be done. Can’t leave everything until tomorrow.......and since it’s very hot and very hazy, I’m putting the time to good use.
Did some packing and then joined friends at the pool for a bit before getting ready for dinner. We decided since this was in essence our last supper on island for this trip, it would be somewhere - anywhere - at Porto Cupecoy that struck our fancy and could seat us reasonably quickly.and we were lucky enough to get into Mario’s Bistro without a reservation which has never been our fortune before. The food was delicious and the service also very good, particularly so since they had a pretty full house and only two servers on. Tables have been added at Mario’s but the food hasn’t suffered for it at all. It was still totally delish!
We drove home and for the record, the lights were off through the golf course again tonight, both coming and going. What’s up with that?! !
Respectfully,
pat

Ahhh, the dreaded last full day. It's always with heavy heart. I was so glad that our trips finally crossed paths and got to spend time with you and John. It was only you first couple of days, but I followed your trip every day since returning home. It seems like your trip went just as fast as our trip did. Safe travels home and hope you and your family have wonderful Holidays.
I also sent you a PM this morning.

I'm almost as disappointed as you---but remember you have April to look forward to and the holidays with your family.
Hopefully we will enjoy a meal together in April.
Have a pleasant flight!!!

Pat, I have stayed at BSV but I have to tell you the view from the Towers is my favorite of the two properties.........

To each his own.
We happen to own one of the best units in the building - high and with an incredible view and a wonderful balcony but while I can see the beach, I can’t hear the surf and the waves and I can’t smell the ocean scents.
I love them both for different reasons but I do like the pool being short footsteps away and the airplanes just out the front door, neither of which would apply to the Towers, along with scents and sounds of the ocean.
Again I say, to each his own and to somewhat paraphrase an old song, if you can’t stay at the one you love, love the one you’re staying at......and that would work for both properties.
Respectfully,
