Greenhouse in Simpson Bay........... Both $35 T- Bone steaks that we ordered were literally fed to the two stray dogs that they allowed to sit around our table while we tried to dine. Informed the waitress that the meat was un-cuttable & non-edible, she promptly took both cuts behind a nearby bush and fed them to the dogs. I was shocked that they could actually chew through them. Had the audacity to deduct 10% off of the price of ONE of the dog's meals and presented the check......... NEVER AGAIN.

We love the Greenhouse but stick to burger, wrap & sandwich type of food. Can’t beat the 2 for 1 happy hour. Sorry for your experience.

Any place can have a bad night............. it's how it's handled is what marks their professionalism.

Sounds crazy. Did you first send them back and they still charged you?

I told/showed the waitress the quality (lack of) of the cut ........ there was no "fixing" what was wrong.

I guess my question is why didn’t they replace the meals if it was that awful and you were unable to eat it. I don’t agree with the behavior but I also wouldn’t have paid a dime for a inedible meal.

Doesn't sound good. Their menu indicated they use Certified Angus Beef, which is typically good unless overcooked.

I will say, we had a meal there in Nov. My shrimp appetizer was ok but my wife's chicken was not very good according to her.

I was so turned off by the course of events I wouldn't even ask for a replacement.

We have eaten at both of there places for over 20 years and only once had an over cook prime rib and mentioned it to the sever and immediately
the manager came over offered a replacement and I had my new med-rare steak in five min. In the last three weeks had their prime rib three times
and they wer all perfect, for all six of us. Also enjoy their Johnny cakes and the 2 for 1 drinks.

Last May we ate at the Atrium location 3 times. Once for lunch and twice had their Prime Rib. All three times were very good with fast efficient service. Prime Rib was tender and cooked perfectly. Will be back again next time on island.

Last trip, in Simpson bay, i had a Tee bone from their steak special add on page to the menu. Part of it you could almost cut it with a fork and was flavorful. Sorry you got some bad ones. How they handled it was not good, and too bad a manger didn't get involved.

Yes. That waitress showed poor judgement if that is the way it was dealt with. Volunteering to bring out another steak or entree is the way to handle something like this but OP said he didn't want to have it replaced. I wasn't there but from the tone of his post I can imagine it was a heated discussion resulting in the dog being fed the steak.

Love the Greenhouse on lobster night. Staff is always so pleasant and helpful. If you go to JAX, be prepared to pay alot. Might want to try Frenchy Ludo or Bar Code. BTW Frenchy Ludo has HH 4:30 to 7 all drinks are 2 for 1 (and they dont serve both at the same time)

I hate it when they serve HH drinks at same time. My wife and I work around that and order same drink and I'll have one and she the other. Then repeat when needed.

Agree, especially in the tropics and with frozen drinks. It puts undue pressure to down them in a hurry.

If I recall correctly the bill for the dog food was about $40 less than an incredible food experience at Jax. Tell me you're not comparing Bar Code to Jax..............

Agree with you there SXMBND...nothing about Jax and BarCode is similar. Two different leagues.

You might also try Moulin Fou for filet or beef.

I'm with Georgia...I've never liked Greenhouse.

Greenhouse was pretty decent in the past for appetizers but never really great meals.

Never been to Jax but for sure different from Bar Code, which I really like. I really liked Bajatzu when it was there.

Tried Frenchy Ludo once, between the sewer smell outside and the poor presentation of escargot and bad cut of filet, never again.

Too bad about the Greenhouse experience. We’ve only done lunches and drinks and apps there and those were always good experiences. Well, except for the creatures begging for French fries, that is. Haven’t been there lately but they used to come right up off the gravel and onto the tile floors and beg like puppies.

Respectfully,

pat

Yeah, the tropics are hard on them frozen drinks. We either do what Scuba does, or bring our Yeti's to store the second one in. Oh our happy hour challenges! LOL

We had same problem at greenhouse but best experience at Frenchy Ludo's, no odor, excellent steak. But I agree not traditional escargot. But the menu explains it's not traditional escargot with a full description. Thus we didn't order it.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience at the Greenhouse. In all the years going there, we have NEVER had a bad meal there. From steaks to lobster any in between. We had a couple of TTOL parties there, Mike the manager was great!! IMHO. You could have asked for him, he in all likely would have fixed this for you!!! As another poster said, They had a bad night.

Sand Gravity, got to love it!
