I'm not good at these but here we go.....
I arrived Tuesday Oct 21 Sailed right through customs (helps to just have a carry on for luggage). 3 minutes in line tops.
Now here is where I made my first mistake.
I had reserved a car through Budget ( ya ya I know but I wanted the FF miles). not to bad I was on the road within 20 mins. Yahoo I had my timetable down, I'd be on the beach by 2PM. Drove down to the Cellular One store on Airport Road and they were closed. It was St. Maarten Day RATS I'd have to do it tomorrow. well back on my way, Got to Club O and checked in and I was on the beach at 2:06 YES I saved travel day.
I met Clem and his lovely wife right off the bat. He had a very interesting way of extending his vacation. Seems his poor wife broke her foot or something like that so they were forced to stay an extra week or two to recover. Interesting theory he had about when that foot healed HA HA HA HA I think he wanted a few more weeks.
Nothing spectucular for the rest of the day. I got my sun and relaxed.
Now it's wednesday AM I hit papagayos for breakfast and then the beach. Come 1PM I showered, dressed and headed to the cellular store. I brought in my phone explained what I wanted and how I got the info here WHAM 3 minutes It was ready. Cost 30US ($10US to activate and a $20US card) Like other posters here I also bought a second $20US card. The phone service worked everywhere on the island except the Cellular One Store HAHAHA. I showed the store manager the posts we had made here about them and also gave them some sponsor information so hopefully they will come on board. Now before I left for the first time (I had to go back I left my camera there [yup mistake #2]) I did get the phone number and info I promised in the earlier cellular one posts I'll post that later ( got my camera back also they put it under the counter until I returned).
Back to fun city now. So I leave the second time and hit the brakes on my "budget" car and the peddle goes right to the floor. The car stopped but the brake peddle was making an impression in the floor board. I managed to get it back to Budget and they gave me another car no problem but if that had happened on Cole Bay Hill or one of the other roads as steep I dread to think what would have happened. OK So this was mistake #1 I should have gone through AAA or Unity or one of our other sponsors. Next time I will.
From here the trip report gets real small. All I did for the next 6 days was relax on the beach. I did visit Baywatch for Ribs all I can say is WOW!!!!!! They were great. Thanks Andy and Cheryl for making me feel like family. I even remembered to give them the message from Sugarae (Well almost all of the message) (Actually none of the message All I could remember at this point was Sugarae said hello)
Last day I stopped at Ric's for breakfast and was very happy with the meal and atmosphere. Now While I was in Ric's a lady told him she heard he was going to sell. His reply to her was "everything is for sale at a price". I hope this doesn't mean he is actively looking but......
Well this is it. I know I didn't forget anything because I didn't do anything. I did meet the most fun people yet this trip. Some TTOLers and some lurkers.
