Got an email from AA, so logged in. Eric and I both got 100 bonus miles. Not much, but better than I have ever gotten from them before! I need to log in again tomorrow, to see if this changed my expiration date, as I have some miles that are due to expire next year. There are different things I can do to make sure they don't expire, but if this works, then I won't have to worry about it. So far, it still shows my original date of expiration though.

Thanks for the notice. I got 1000 million miler miles (only 76k short of platinum for life, which I might achieve at today's run rate by 2035) and my wife got 250. I had to retrieve the notices from my trash file.

Somehow I'm thinking that 100 miles was the minimum, and most people are getting more, but I'm good with it!

One of us got 1000 million-miler miles, the other got a premium seat upgrade. My expiration date didn’t change. It is still sometime in 2022.

Bahston--OK, thanks. I have some Marriott Bonvoy points I can transfer to AA, if I can figure out how to log in there!

Thanks, Carol.....we both got 100 miles. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
How do you find out when your miles expire? Do you have to call them?

Funny, it did show on my account, whenever I log in, and now it's not showing at all. Weird. I think perhaps they are deciding whether to have these miles extend the date? Not sure. It's 18 months from whenever your last activity was, PAID activity, that is. So, if you fly on miles, that doesn't count. I don't have any credit cards that give me AA miles and haven't flown AA for a while. ..of course, we were booked on paid tickets in June of this year, but everyone knows what happened to that.

To all - In my experience, every airline has an online-shopping-mall relationship. If you’re worried about losing miles through expiration then buying something through that online shop will eye-drop a few miles into your account. Those miles typically reset the expiration date of your miles.

Yes that's true, it's just they are kind of rip-off stuff. There are various options to extend my miles, just waiting until I really need to do it.

If we dont get flying soon what we hope will always be available wont be available. The commercial aviation industry is at a point of destruction. If you can assess and mitigate and go, please do. For those who assess and stay home, please do.
Southwest anniunced 6000+ layoffs and they had the most cash.
Do not assume what we are a customed to, will exist in 6 months.
If you got the guts, please go.
We cancelled new years on Sxm but booked May in Mexico a first destination for us.

100 miles equals about $1.40, I guess for them at least people are talking about AA which is where I might be heading after this vacation!
I prefer the Isle seat

According to AA, participating in the gift promotion moves your expiration date 18 months. Below is an excerpt from the email I received from them today.
First let me say that all expiration dates have been hated until June 30, 2021. However since you participated in the Greatest Gift promotion your expiration date is now June 3, 2022.

vacanakey--I presume you re-typed part of the email incorrectly, as I don't know what "all expiration dates have been hated until June 2021 means. Did you send them a specific email regarding your situation, or was this a blanket AA email, as I have received nothing from them. And I still do not see any expiration date on my AA account at all.

No, I cut and pasted the excerpt from their email reply to my inquiry....I think they meant 'halted'.
Your expiration date can be found by logging in to your account and clicking the 'wallet' tab.

OK, perhaps I will get the email myself today.
OK, at first I couldn't find the 'wallet tab', but I just found it, and it does say June 2022. Thanks much!!

Every time you use your AA credit card and post miles on your acct the expiration date is extended from that point.

Yes, that's true, but I don't have a card that gets me AA miles. Eric does, but I don't.

Just getting your first card gives you 40,000 to 50,000 miles after using it. Enough for a ticket.
