This link takes you to a trip report like no other....700 km on a stand up paddleboard.

The author lives in our building and I meet him frequently as we take our dogs out. Lukas is an air traffic controller at Toronto's Pearson Airport which I think is a very cool job. (My first MacIntosh SE had an air traffic controller simulator that stretched one's brain to exploding)

This past summer we passed each other a couple of times on Lake Ontario, he on his kite board, me in my 22' sailboat....he was always going much faster than me.

He has a weather station on his balcony facing the lake with a remote monitoring station down by the water about a kilometer south so that he can track the conditions on the lake and decide what he will do that day...SUP, kite board or swim.

Yes swim.

He and his wife Deborah swim in Lake Ontario all year round. She did acknowledge that putting her head under when the air temperature was less than -10C was challenging.

She teaches university in Praque so last summer while she was gone Lukas did the solo 700Km SUP trip that the link above chronicles.

Enjoy the journey.

After every Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF.
