Our vacation has been going by slowly until yesterday. We have three more full days on the island and weather report looks like it may be the best weather-wise. We've experienced high cloud coverage on and off and very windy during this trip.

We spent Wednesday at Orient. After meeting a couple the night before recommended Kontiki we decided to spend the day at their beachfront. Good call as we were very comfortable and hadn't been to Kontini in a couple of years.

Beach front and restaurant, bar area is nice, lounge chairs have great cushions, nice bathrooms and they were the only place on Orient doing a good job of cleaning up sargassum and carting it away. Located now more in the middle of Orient then as you head south there is Orange Fever, Sun, Chez Leandra, and LeString before you enter Club O. David walked the length from our point and reported that the sargassum was really bad down by Club O. This was how it was today, perhaps is different another day but he said you couldn’t get into the water without it being all along the shoreline and in the entry to the water. It was far less an issue down by Kontiki. We watched several men rake and put the sargassum back into the water which only was washing back in not too far after.

Our morning started with a toast on the beach and we were delighted a Mimosa and Bellini were served in stemware. Two lounges and an umbrella were $20 whether you ate onsite or not. It was super windy with a mix of sun and clouds during our stay.

When a shower started a little before noon we decided it was time to move to the dining area for lunch. We had a nice leisure lunch starting with the fried chicken springs. I ate the Bo Bun salad bowl: noodles, salad, beef, fried shallots, red onions, lime wedge with several pieces of shrimp fried rolls. David’s mahi-mahi burger was served on a toasted sesame bun served with crispy fries. He loved his dish as did I. A cappuccino and the most light and fluffy lemon cheesecake on a biscuit which came with mango sorbet on the side ended our meal. Tres bonne!

Back to the beach for maybe 30 minutes before the sky became dark and beach man informed us heavy rain was coming. The was our cue to leave. Went to Yacht club where we ran into some friends, stayed for a while then left for “downtown” Maho. David needed a new battery for his watch so we went to the jewelry store in Maho. He treated himself to a watch and bought me sterling silver drop jeweled Palm Tree earrings. The earrings are very pretty. He loves his watch.

Maho pharmacy has a variety of toiletries we needed and have been there several times. Prices aren’t bad and they take the Magic of the Caribbean card where you receive 10% off of purchases.

For dinner we went to Roxy’s Corner located on the Simpson Bay marina side where there are several other small restaurants. Roxy is a doll and her and her husband serve good food. I had the pan fried butter fish, rice with a hint of curry, salad and plantains. Roxy makes her own hot sauce, yummy.

If you don't mind me asking what does Kontiki charge for the loungers and do they have a no charge policy if you eat or drink there?

Louise and David, it was so nice to get to visit yesterday! A happy accident. It seems the weather will be a bit more cooperative today, beautiful sunshine. Hope you find a nice warm patch of sand somewhere and enjoy the rest of your time. . See you in October.

You pay whether you eat or not. $20 2 chairs and umbrella but it was added to our lunch bill which was charged in euros and was not 1 to 1 so winded up paying more. It was a great day

So enjoying your trip, Louise. I wish you could stay another week or so - you guys both deserve it.

And I’m almost embarrassed to admit this since we both know I’m not much of a foodie but I’m really enjoying your meals. TY for sharing them.

Respectfully,

pat
