We enjoyed our vacation at Desire in January(see previous trip report on this forum) so much we returned again in April for a week.We are not lifestylers but enjoy the A/N environment of this resort. It is interesting that one can return to the same resort and have a very different vacation experience. The Good:the resort is immaculately maitained, the service continues to be outstanding in all respects, the weather was beautiful. The Bad:the bugs, the resort is build adjacent to a mangrove swamp and the spring hatch of mosquitoes and noseeums must have been at peak.In January we left the windows open to hear the ocean,we did this one night and suffered multiple bites. The beach is to be avoided at twilight and the evening and during the day in the shade. We sustained multiple noseeum bites on the legs and ankles while reading on the chairs in the lobby courtyard in the afternoon. If a person closed their windows and used the A/C and stayed at the pool except for beachwalks in the sunshine they would avoid most of the biting insects. At least two couples checked out and transferred because of the bug issue. On two days it was not advisable to swim in the ocean because of the plethora of jellfyish .The Ugly:We have found the resort guests to be some of the finest people we have ever met .On this visit we noted some daytime PDA's on the beach and near the pool that were totally inappropriate and against resort policy.Fortunately they were few.We also noted one guest who was particularly loud and disrespectful to several female vacationers(other forums have commented on his behavior),he must have been told to modify his behavior or be ejected since he improved during the course of his stay. Desire continues to be an excellent value and a great A/N vacation destination.
