I personally wouldn't stay there because of all the bad blood behind the place, but newcomers to SXM may enjoy it.

I'm with you on that, Carol. Too many good people hurt in all the nonsense that took place but most who would stay there from this point on will be clueless to all that happened in the past.
Not that I'm wishing bad vibes on the island but I'm anxious to see what will happen to it with the first major hurricane that blows through there........that area has taken many a beating in the past all the way back to the original Caravanserai Resort in the 70s and 80s and forward.
When we were there in April they had knocked down many of the old uncompleted buildings and were busily engaged in hauling the concrete debris away. Looking forward to seeing what it will be like in the Fall.
Respectfully,
pat

Pat--I obviously haven't seen that area since Covid, so it will look a LOT different to me also.

Good points Carol and Pat.
Beyond these good points, there is also the fact that they are advertising rates that would exceed the weekly cost of renting a very nice private villa.....for a dressed up Holiday Inn room??? Don't tink so. For those wishing to stay in that 'hood, straight to BeachSide!

I hear you and I get it, Bob. You were one of the ‘good people’ I was thinking about when I said that.

If you know about this properties always failed and sometimes just fraudulent past I just don't understand how anybody could ever support that place. Plus not even a decent beach or much appeal. So many better places that have proven themselves over and over year after year. Reputation and how long they have been around says it all to me.

From the outside, it looked really nice!! This is a totally different build, nothing to do with the other two disasters that were there!! "OPT word" were there!! We watched the demolishing from Sandbar!! (Plug plug) That old property is going to be an eye sore for years to come!!If we were jammed up and had to wait for Tracy (Beachside villa's) for our unit. I'd stay there for $200.00 a night. That's what we did at the old Royal Palm (privet rental) before Irma!
Sand Gravity, got to love it!
