Hi,

Could anybody give a rough time estimate that we would have to depart Nanny Cay in order to arrive at Marina Cay by 3:30?
Normally this is into the wind, so I assume engines on, if time required.

Thanks,

BG

It’s about 9.8 nm’s. Depends on your boat and how comfortable you are pounding into the waves. Probably 6 knots is a safe number so an 1:45 is probably reasonable. If it’s a really calm day you might be able to see 8 knots and a shorter time.

You are going to be going upwind. If you intend on sailing the distance is going to be about 20nm, if you are motoring or motorsailing it will be shorter - between 10nm and 15nm. Depending upon conditions and the boat you are in, I would not expect to make it in less than 3 hours, including the time needed to depart Nanny Cay and set set, then to get a mooring ball at Marina Cay.
