We're considering renting a villa in early 2023, to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. It will just be the two of us; thinking of something convenient to Grand Case or Orient Village restaurants. A private pool is a must, as is a beautiful view. Most places I search are showing no availability, but I think that might be because I'm searching over a year in advance? Anyway, does anyone here have any suggestions based on actual experience? Thanks!

Georgia--You didn't say what your price point is. I would recommend Villa Canoua, which definitely has a private pool and a beautiful view over Happy Bay. I have to say, the interior design is not my taste at all, but it does excell with a view which is hard to beat. Gated community, 5 minutes drive to Grand Case, view out to Anguilla. LinkIf you are interested, I would be happy to give you a private detailed review.

While we had the same the same criteria, private pool, GC or Orient and a view, upon touring many villas, we gave in and decided to get the best bang for the buck and went into the lowlands. Much more grand, well kept, almost all gated. We did decide on La Favorita which blew our socks off and the housekeeper was the icing on the cake, She was a joy to meet and I'm sure she will take great care to watch over us. Not crazy about the 25 minutes drive to GC especially through driving Sandy Ground but may split evening meals by going south including Marios, Jaxs and Jai's Contemporary Indian and a private chef. Not sure I can make recommendation for only 2 guests as we are going with another couple. We did find a couple villas in the lowlands but was missing the view, I think one was La Pinta along with it's sister property. Maybe check the happy bay villas as I think they were a possibility while we were only looking for 2 guests.

I can give Sunrise Villa (there are two so named on the island) this is the one located near the top of the hill behind Orient. It is pricy but immaculate, tastefully decorated and has the most incredible view. We were there for out 50th. PM for any questions.

Thanks for the link; I'll take a look and let you know if I want your review. That area would definitely fit our criteria for location.

Friends rented a gorgeous villa in Terra Basses this November, and while the property, the privacy, and the view were all spectacular, the distance from beaches and restaurants would be a deterrent for us. We have considered hiring a chef for one meal and don't mind cooking in a couple of evenings, but will definitely want to enjoy some Grand Case or Orient village restaurants, especially since most of our evening meals are on the Dutch side during our usual island vacation.

I thought you could not ask that type of questions or make recommendations on this site because of some sort of possible scam or something?

Can not say enough nice things about about Veronique Fassel. She owns Seaview Villas. We've stayed at several of her places. This one (Villa O): https://www.villao.vacations - four times. It's in Orient Bay, up at the top of the hill... two minutes to everything, and a killer view!!! We've also stayed at here smaller place Villa Pinel - https://www.villapinelsxm.com/ a little further, over in Cul De Sac, but right on the water - you can kayak over to pinel easily from there. Villa O is pricey - but absolutely worth it!!!

We have rented many times on the French side during the past 20 plus years. Always have been close to the restaurants at Orient Village as well as always having a private pool. We have rented every time through Magali who can be reached at https://www.islandescapesxm.com. She is so nice and has been a big help the past 2 years since we have had to cancel 4 trips now due to COVID. She has always either switched our payment or refunded it entirely. She's a real doll. Check out her website and I'm sure you will find something you will enjoy. Enjoy your celebration!

biglar--have to say that there are very few properties in Orient Village that have any view, and that was one of the priorities.

We just returned from two weeks in Orient village in one of Magali’s apartments, she was awesome to work with and given the amount of lead time I think she would have something for you.

mahokid--I recommended Canoua, which is one of the Happy Bay villas, and the most reasonably priced. I don't know the names of the others.

Phipippe manages a number of villas in the orient area. We have stayed in several and most had private pools and a view. He is also very responsive and good to work with.

Carol,
Before making our decision, the Villas on the happy bay hill fit into our two guest budget and did have a great view. We do like the additional security of the low lands.
If two guests have a higher budget you can certainly find something in Orient which fills all requests. We are fortunate to travel in low season .

mahokid--I personally felt very safe above Happy Bay. There is a gate for the community, as well as a gate for the individual villa. And Canoua had electronic hurricane shutters, which we did use at night.

The views there look amazing out toward Orient, for sure. Although I wouldn't really call that "Orient Village", since it appears to be up the hill. Enjoy!
